I had been referring to whether a 30min limit could be avoided when video'ing with a 5D-IV via Magic Lantern and in my experience it could not. Rick, just for completeness, I think we were talking slightly at cross-purposes in one regard. The cost of the capture devices have gotten really high recently since there demand has went through the roof. So if you do that you do not need the capture device. I am now using the paid version ($50) and just streaming from the usb cable. Been searching online but have not any setting in camera that could be causing it. I am curios if this is a 6D issue since both programs are acting the same. Finally I unchecked the restart after 30 minute box and I did get a quick shutter but it was only a click click and kept on going.

After running the camera a couple of time it started turning off after 30 minutes just like with Magic Lantern. Ok for whatever reason I have run into a snag but worked out out. You have to get past the first couple of minutes of gaming. Several are about things other than recording or streaming. Sorry forgot to include I am using an hdmi capture device as well. Magic Lantern a Sparkocam both need a mic input into the laptop.

Since it was my first venture into video there was short curve like adjusting the audio offset to sync. Not using a 5D4 but figure it would work as well. as you cannot have one smartphone control more than one cam. What I do now with 5D-IV's and 6D-II's is to control the cams with the Canon Camera Connect wifi app., one (old and cheap) smartphone per cam. The short downtime whilst ML restarted every 30 mins was not an issue for me as as I would have the cams starting at slightly different times so there was never a moment when both cams failed to record simultaneously. I used Magic Lantern routinely for several years with my two 5D-II's. As far as I was aware Magic Lantern could not do it, as you found. Rick, what "other program" did you find to circumvent the 30 minute limit on the 5D-IV. To bad Canon's new software for streams doesn't list the 6D. It took a little but got it working fairly quick. I had already tried that and could not get it restart. It is the restart function, however it will skip a few seconds.
